Directions for Use of the R-Ticulator Pop (tm)

This patented speech tool will enable you to quickly and accurately shape your client's tongue into the proper position for producing the /r/.  Your R-ticulator Pop is re-usable, but is meant for individual use only.  It is compatible with flavor sprays.  Please wash with warm soapy water and allow to air dry.

Hold your R-ticulator Pop perpendicular to client, with flat side facing down.

Instruct your client to open mouth.  The Pop goes underneath the tongue- keeping the flat side down.

Slide the Pop into the mouth, below the tongue and gently push back.

 Angle the handle slightly so that it lifts the tongue. 

 If positioned correctly, the tongue should now be pushed to the back of the oral cavity, and positioned upwards.

Instruct your client to "bite (VERY SOFTLY) and smile"- Confirm that the smile is big.  This will retract the tongue further. 

 Instruct your client to "say /r/." (Prolong the /r/ sound)

If needed, adjust the R-ticulator Pop position and/or angle to achieve the accurate /r/ production.
